Is there a discount buying Windows7 ...

.. with a new mother board ? -pete  Ready to build my first Windows box. But not my first DIY PC. Built many Linux/BSD boxes.This box will only be used to run Sketchup, nothing else.Other then 64 bit, which version of Windows 7 is recommended ?-pete  ...

If you can operate what passes for a GUI on most Linux distros, Windows 8 should be a walk in the park for you, and it's a generally better OS once you get over the initial setup.


Windows 7 Home is fine for the current version of Sketchup though.

I wish was a deal where if you buy x amount of parts you get OS for free.. Would def come in handy for people who are trying to build on a budget..

Do you have a current OEM copy of windows?  If you do, and it was one purchased for a system that you built, Microsoft might transfer the license to the new system.  They will do this, if your old motherboard had failed.  However, it is entirely their decision.  Sometimes you might Windows 7 on sale, but they do not occur frequently.

If that's all your doing I'd build to a little more than the system requirements, but that's just me.
