Did you try to reload all your drivers? Maybe it can help you? My friend at academic writing help did it and it helped him!

This is just a suggestion. But maybe if you upgrade the driver for you laptop. I to just purchased a 24" and it showed perfect with my laptop (but I actually upgraded the video driver just before I tried to hook it up.

If your screen does 1680 x 1050 then THAT is the resolution your monitor was made for and all letters would be much sharper.

ALSO, my laptop has VGA out as well. It has THREE OPTIONS

1. Play only on laptop

2. Play on BOTH LAPTOP AND EXTERNAL MONITOR

3. Play on ONLY EXTERNAL MONITOR.

Well, I never tried to see what would happen with the resolution if I choose option 2. Maybe that is your problem.

I have a Compaq laptop. I just had to press fn and the external monitor bottons TWICE to play ONLY ON External Monitor.

Hope I helped.

the thing is, it's not stretching to fit. it seems as if my screen isn't big enough because my background is 1280x1024 and when i set it to 1680x1050 it is making me scroll sideways and when i do that there is a blank part where which shows the 1680x1024. It seems as if my screen should be about 2 inches bigger on each side to fit 1680x1024 and 1 cm taller. What is wrong with my computer

1280x1024 is 1.25/1 ratio

1680x1050 is 1.6/1 ratio

Try it at 1680 x 1344, I'm assuming you monitor is stretching to fit rather than just displaying, maybe there is a setting you can change.

Ok,

So it seems that my screen fits at 1280x1024 perfectly. WHy? Why can't it go to 1680x1050 which is the recommened resolution. When i switch it to that, i scroll to see the entire screen? Uh whats going on??

Maybe you should go to Display Properties and try a lower resolution as needed..
