It was the monitor.  It over heated and shut down.  Exchanged monitor at Sam's Wh'se and all fixed.  Thanks all.

If all else fails you can try to find a PCI video card and see if it is the slot or find another vid card for the current slot you have it in.

It starts to flicker, then in about 5 seconds the screen goes bright and immediately goes black.  It does not come on.  I have to shut down by holding the off button for 5 seconds and restart the computer.  Its not the card ... changed the card.  Its not the video cable...changed the cable.  Any suggestions?

Does it go black and then come back randomly like flickering but in a non-sequential pattern or does it go black and stay back for good?

If it does the former, then I had something like that happen with my system before. Believe it or not, it was my DVI cable. Something was fishy with it, but after I switched out the cable for another one, it never flickered black again.

I'm pretty sure is not a heat issue.  The computer side cover cover is off and has been off.  I have a Antec 900 case with four fans going strong.  The video card was not overheating according to EVGA tech.  Any other suggestions?
