Display Issues

I started building my first computer and have come to find that I cannot get the BIOS to display on my monitor. At first i was using an ASUS M4A87TD-EVO but recently switched to an ECS A880GM-AD3 to see if the motherboard was the problem. I still cannot get a display. I have tried all of these and still nothing. I have a hunch that my CPU is damaged, and I am planning to get a new one. Hopefully it will solve my problem...

Make sure the 4/8 pin connector near the CPU is plugged into the main board.

Make sure the main board is installed onto the standoffs and not directly to the case.

Make sure the power supply is plugged into the video card(s)

Try one stick of RAM, and then another.

Try an External build, tear it down to minimal, lay the main board on a peice of plain brown cardboard to rule out short circuits to the case.
