No sound from monitor?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.  It's been awhile since I was here and the format is completely different, and not very easy to navigate like the old layout.I just bought a new Samsung TV to use as a both TV and Monitor.  When using it as a TV, the sound works fine.  When I switch to using it a......

My guess is your video card has hdmi out? If so, it's probably not carrying an audio signal through your vid card. Or your card may support it and you just have to change the output on the pc. Instead of your pc speakers, see if you can select hdmi or your video cards name output in the audio panel.

HDMI is selected and shows "working properly".  It even has a green check mark, but no sound.

See if there is an audio input control under the monitor's hardware menu selection buttons. Check to see if there's some way to turn the volume up. Make sure your video card / on-board GPU driver is updated to latest.
